Default RPL Assessment vs Education Assessment

Hi
I am a BE - Mechanical Engineer. Also done Masters (ME - Mechanical).
I am Software Engineer by Profession. I have applied for 261313.
My Points are 65.

IELTS : 10 pts
ACS (Done) : 10 Years +
However, the ACS assessment does not mention about Degree evaluation.
My ACS was firstly rejected and then I had applied through RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) at ACS. ACS results are successful.

EOI Submitted : 03-Aug 2017

Can some one please help me.
Will my degree certificates scan copies will be Good if I get invite?
Or I have to go ahead & get my degree evaluation done some where else.

As a summary :
My ACS (RPL) Assessment is successful.
Education Assessment is not recognized in ACS. This education needs to be evaluated separately? If yes - through which channel.

Some one said - I need to have separate Assessment for Education & Skills. However, I did not find answer to this query.

Experts - please help.

This might be question for many of aspirants, (BE Mechanical) and they are working in IT (Software) Engineering profession.

I think you have to get your degree evaluated from VETASSESS. Email them that you want only your degree assessed for Points Test Advice, and you already have a positive assessment from ACS. They will send you a link, and you have to submit your educational documents. The case officer may reject your 15 educational points if you dont have a certificate mentioning your education is equal to that of an Australian degree.

Again, there are mixed opinions. Here are my 2 cents:

1). VETASSESS website clearly states that

"You have received a Skills Assessment from a different assessing authority and have been referred to us by your skills assessing authority and/or DIBP for Points Test Advice on the educational level comparability of your overseas qualification only"

Now ACS won't assess a mechanical engineering degree so it'll the Case officer's call. He/she may ask you to get an assessment (if he/she is unable to verify. There are other sources too E.g.:

https://internationaleducation.gov.a...cognition.aspx

So you could either get a VETASSESS PTA or leave it on CO's discretion it's your call. My case is same as yours and I have decided not to get assessed.

Not sure if thats the right advice. My understanding is, in order to claim any points for qualifications, it must be assessed to be equal to appropriate AQF level. Just like a skills assessment outcome which allows you to claim experience points. If your skills assessment authority doesn't assess your qualification, you must get it assessed by other relevant authority.

Experts can correct me if I am wrong, but CO may not consider your qualification if it is not assessed equivalent to an AQF degree.

"if your skills assessment authority doesn't assess your qualification, you must get it assessed by other relevant authority"

The 'other' relevant authority that you have mentioned clearly states that for PTA you should either be referred by the assessing authority or DIBP.

Default 15 or 10 points for qualification?

Hi ,

I am confused in calculating my points for 189.

I have received positive assessment for my qualification and my experience from Engineering Australia. I have a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Now i am confused that i will claim 10 points or 15 points from the options.

1) A Doctorate degree from an Australian educational institution or a Doctorate from another educational institution that is of a*recognised standard. - 20 points

2) A Bachelor degree from an Australian educational institution or a Bachelor qualification, from another educational institution that is of a*recognised standard. -15 points

3) A diploma or trade qualification completed in Australia - 10 points

4) An award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation.- 10 points

Waiting for expert advice.

Regards

If you say you have a Bachelor's degree assessed by EA; you can claim 15 points for it. Point 2 of your post.

Point 3 and 4 of your post are the same- regarding Trade qualification, including a Diploma, trade certificate, or any other award of qualification. This one is not relevant to you.

Additionally, if your Bachelor's was minimum 2 year full-time course completed at an Australian institution, you can claim an additional 5 points for it.

Hope this clarifies your doubt.
