Default Statutory Declaration for UK work experience

Hi Folks,

I need some information on getting a statutory declaration for my UK work experience. I have worked for a UK company at London between June 2006 to August 2009. The company cannot give me a skills letter with what the ACS requires it to have. However, the person I reported to in that period, is ready to give me a statutory declaration but we are unclear about the process.

In Australia I have done this, my current manager signed a Statutory declaration of the commonwealth of Australia in front of a Justice of Peace (JP).
The JP verified mine and my managers identity by some form of photo id document like a drivers icense. All of this happened at no cost.

What is the process of getting a statutory declaration from the UK? Who signs it? Is it free or not? and if not what is the cost?

I have all other documents ready to be submitted for the ACS skills verification, once I get some clarity on this UK thing, I will be ale to submit the ACS stuff online.

Thanks in advance

Abhijit

Hi Abhijit,
I submitted 2 stat decs when I applied for my assessment from UK. One was a self stat dec and another from my colleague at work. What we did was to take a printout of the declaration and take it to a solicitor. They will take an oath from you that whatever you have mentioned on the star dec is true and then tell you to sign in their presence. They will then sign and seal the declaration before returning it to you. It's gonna cost you either 5 or 10 depending on the solicitor.

It's a pretty easy process.

All the best!!
