Default Visa Class 189

I applied for the Skillselect visa for 189 on 2nd October. My total points are 60. Last time when i saw the score for 189 it was 65, does anyone know if the next round of invitations would see further drop in the score. This information is very crucial for my visa process. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dimpu,
generally we expect to see a drop to 60 points in the next round (Oct 15), however, there are a lot of people with 60 points who lodged their EoI in previous months. If I were you I wouldn't expect to receive an invitation before Dec-15, potentially even later.
Good luck though!

Thank you so much for ur post Christina, I really appreciate it. I just have another question I have done my Masters of Accounting and it was a two year course. Will this affect my application? Dont wanna sound too ambitious but does my course have and edge over the others?

Hi,

I am currently in Sydney from Dec 2011 and looking to apply for Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa.

I am gathering information to apply for visa and found that my first step should be Skill assessment and next would be taking IELTS (band 7).

I have few queries regarding Skill assessment.
  1. I have resignation letter or Service certificate in companies letterhead with start date, end date, designation and sign of HR. But it doesnt have description of duties performed and did not mention whether it is full time or part time. Will it have any impact to my Skill assessment application ?
  2. My total experience till date is 6 years and my overseas experience will be 1 year by this December. Will I get 5 points for 1 year Overseas experience even if I apply to Skill assessment before December 2012 ?
  3. Considering 6 to 8 months for granting a visa, If I apply EOI in January 2013 and If I was invited to apply for Visa in March 2013, what impact will my application have ? I am concerned about Occupation ceiling or quota and the dates (June 2013), since the application is made on March 2013 and the processing goes beyond June 2013.
  4. Will applying in March 2013 have more chances for rejection for any reason like occupation ceiling?
  5. My Spouse has 1.5 years of IT experience. to get 5 points for Spouse qualification, should I submit a separate Skill assessment application for my spouse as well ?

Thanks for reading my post and your help.
Venu.

Unfortunately DIAC does not differentiate between a Bachelor's and a Master's degree. No extra points and no advantage in receiving an invitation or visa approval.

Default Class 189 - points

Hello,

I have scored 65 points in total when submitted EOI though skill select. But I could not score points for English language as my IELTS score is 6.5

Will my EOI be considered for invitation round with IELTS score of 6.5 or should I retake the IELTS to improve my score?

Thanks for your time.
