Default Can I apply to 189 visa with these requirements?

Hello Friends!!!

I'm Malindu from Sri Lanka and I hope to get the Permanent Residency in Australia. Iím a new member to this forum. First of all I would like to thank all members in this forum and provide necessary information to the people who are having issues regarding their visa applications.

I was studied the BSc (Honors) Business Information System degree at the Cardiff Metropolitan University UK through affiliate college. With this degree certificate, Iím okay to obtain the MBCS (Member of British Computer Society) and the AMACS (Associate Member of Australian Computer Society) membership certifications. But I donít have any work experience and havenít sit for the IELTS Exam yet. Based on my degree I can assume that Iíll be eligible for ďBusiness AnalystĒ job role through ACS Skill Assessment. I search so many information based on how to apply 189 visa without work experience especially in ICT based jobs. I will provide my requirements with this message.

My requirements are
 Age (26): 30 Points
 Degree: 15 points
But I assume that I can claim these points for below requirements.
 IELTS (8): 20 Points
 AMACS membership: Donít know the exact points

Based on the above mentioned requirements, I can score only 65 points. But, I really need to claim more points for AMACS membership certificate. However Iím confused with these requirements.

Points for Educational Qualifications
Diploma or trade qualification or other qualification completed in Australia, or qualification or award of recognized standard: 10 points

Points for Australian Study Requirements
One or more degrees, diplomas or trade qualifications awarded by an Australian educational institution and meet the Australian Study Requirement: 5 Points

But I have doubts to clear before apply the ACS Skill Assessment and 189 visa.

1. Are these points enough to apply the 189 visa?
2. Can I get the positive skill assessment based on my requirements?
3. Are there any negative possibilities to refuse my 189 visa application?
4. In my case, what is the suitable time period to apply the skill assessment and 189 visa?

I would really appreciate if you provide me the correct information.
Thank you,
Malindu.

As your occupation falls under pro rata occupations for this FY, may be that will continue next FY due to huge number of applications.

For your said occupation BA- 70 points are required for 189.

Besides, I do not think you will be awarded points for professional memberships and affiliations.

You get points for following:

Age
Education
Language ability
Work experience

Additional points or bonus points:

Specialist study
If you claim partner points
sponsorship from states ?(its for 190 0r 489)
Australian study
Completed study in regional Australia
CCL (NAATI)

Hope this helps

I don't think you can apply without work experience. Even if you have done your ICT Business Analyst related degree in Australia you would need atleast 1 year experience in Australia or you have to enroll for 'professional year program' which will be treated as equivalent to 1 year experience.

Thanks

Thank you for your replies.

I was studied the BSc (Honors) Business Information System degree at the Cardiff Metropolitan University UK through affiliate college. I search on the internet to find the suitable job role based on my degree.

Based on my qualifications, can I apply for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) ?

Actually, I was really frustrated living in Sri Lanka. That’s why I just looked a modernized country to continue my life. However, I really thank you all for comment to my first post.

But one thing I have to tell you, there was a member in this forum and he was mentioned that he got the Positive Skill Assessment without submitting the work experiences and he just looked into state sponsorship. But another member in this forum has motivate him that he can apply for 189 visa if he get 20 points in IELTS (IELTS 8). I will send that the topic of that thread for further reading.

Thread: GOT Positive Skill Assessment but no points for Work Experience: which VISA Stream?

Additionally, I have a brother. He was studied the Computer Systems and network. Now he is a software Engineer and he got the permanent residency in Australia in 2014.

But I don’t sure that I can claim extra 5 points for getting work experience for one year.

No points for work experience doesn't really mean he hasn't got any work experience.
ACS would not consider first 2 years in your experience towards points.

For example, if a person has 5 years of experience as Software Engineer and he has a degree/masters in Computer Science/IT, his first two years would be deducted for meeting suitability criteria/eligibility and he would be awarded 5 points for remaining 3 years of experience

Second example, if someone has 2 years of experience as Software Engineer and having Computer Science/IT degree as educational qualification, ACS would assess skills as positive however no points would be rewarded for work experience. Thats why I said you must have atleast 2 years of work experience to get a positive assessment from ACS (with no points for work experience).

Other Scenarios: for the above first example, if that persons degree is not Comp Science/IT but Electronics which is not closely related to his occupation, ACS would deduct 4 years instead of 2 years and he wont be awarded any points for work experience as he has only one year remaining after ACS eligibility requirement and the minimum no of years to score 5 points is 3 years (after deducting ACS eligibility requirement years)

If the IT degree is from any Australian university/college then the eligibility requirement is 1 year instead of 2 years.

I would suggest you to go thoroughly through threads dedicated for ACS Skills assessment and you will find more info.

thanks

I would suggest you to get some work experience as they have even made work experience as mandatory clause for the upcoming visa which replaces 457.
