Hi I want to get my skills assessed

Can you suggest which one should i use - ACS or VETASSESS?

Please suggest in terms of credibility , cost, time line etc.

What is the difference between the two?

These are two bodies out of few such bodies in AUS that assesses the relevance of your overseas experience and education. ACS is an assessing authority for ICT related occupations/qualifications and to the best of my knowledge, VETASSESS is for assessing Vocational skills like say hotel manangement. VETASSESS also can advice on the points you will get for your qualification(s) if your qualification and work experience are in separate areas and the assessing authority for your work experience can't/doesn't assess your qualifications....Both are equally credible...costwise I think there is not.much difference, ACS might just be a lil more expensive....timewise I think ACS takes less time but that depends and may differ from case to case basis...Senior expats may comment better....

Dear Karan,

Thanks a lot for the revert

The VETASSESS is showing time line of 12-16 months for the Skill and qualification assessment . This is almost 3-4 months

Any idea if it takes this much time or less?

If it takes 3-4 months does this mean that I cant submit my EOI before that ?

Kindly suggest

What is your qualification and occupation?
Actually it depends on these.

I am not too sure about how EOI works buddy....I filed my visa in old system..but I think it should be similar...you have to make sure that you have as many points possible before applying...I will strongly recommend getting your qualification and work exp assessed and IELTS score ready before submitting an EOI....

I would also suggest you to ask this Q on EOI related threads as ppl who have submitted EOI can tell you better...

Regarding VETASSESS assessment time, these agencies usually quote a long time interval so that ppl don't bother them for status before that date...in most of the cases, I have seen assessment getting completed before due date but then I might be saying that for ACS as I went through ACS. In my case, expected time was 6-8 weeks but it took all of 2.5 weeks to get the assessment (but that depends on the individual's case). Just make sure you understand the documentation requirements, have them ready and read through experiences of ppl who have gone through VETASSESS assessment. The idea should be to make sure that there is no buck passing between you and VETASSESS on documentation requirements. Try to provide everything possible at one go only.

Hope it helps.

Thnx

Technically you could do that, but it would not be of much benefit to you. One question you answer when submitting EOI is if your qualifications have been assessed. Your answer is going to be NO and that means you do not meet the minimum requirements for GSM. I assume you would want to get your EOI done to give you an edge over later applicants. However the system does not exactly work that way. The significant date on your EOI is the day your EOI becomes eligible for the intended VISA. Invitation will be based on the applicants with highest points (not submission date). Only when there is a tie do they look at dates when the tied EOIs became eligible for the Visa in question.

Just get your qualifications assessed by the right authority (DIAC has list of authorities against each occupation). Then take it from there. Your IELTS should also be ready when you submit EOI.

I hope there is sense in my rumbling.
