Thinking back to my letter to support my husbands application five years ago, it was in letter form as you say. It included a brief history of our relationship and how we met the requirements to support ourselves, financial and accommodation. Include reasons why you want to live in the UK. Don’t make it too long and not too emotional. They are not really interested in how you are feeling! We did not thank them for looking at the application either but I’m sure we put that should they need any further information, we would be happy to provide it.
