New forms for applicants who are already in the UK

The UK Border Agency has introduced a number of changes for visa applications this month.

The main change is new versions of forms for visa applications under the points based system.

The new forms are for applicants who are already in the UK, and should now be used for any applications although applications on the old forms will be accepted up to and including 22 October, 2012.

The new forms are for a number of popular visas including Tier 1 (Exceptional talent), Tier 1 (Investor), Tier 1 (Graduate entrepreneur), Tier 1 (Entrepreneur), Tier 1 (General), Tier 2, Tier 4 (Child), Tier 4 (General), and Tier 5 (Temporary worker).

The PBS Dependant form has also been replaced with two separate forms; the PBS Dependant form for Tier 1, 2 or 5 dependants and the PBS Dependant form for Tier 4 dependants.

There are also a number of changes for applicants in various parts of the globe. Malaysia has joined the list of low risk countries whose nationals applying for a Tier 4 student visa will benefit from a streamlined UK visa application process.

Under the streamlined process eligible applicants will generally not be expected to provide documentary evidence of financial maintenance and education qualifications, making the application process simpler and easier.

‘Malaysians, like nationals of all countries, will still need to meet the requirements in the immigration rules and students must be able to provide the appropriate documents if exceptionally requested,’ said a UKBA spokesman.

From this week all applicants applying for a priority visa service in Guangzhou and Shenzhen must submit a photocopy of the data page of the passport and a copy of every page of their passport.

In Nepal from Monday 15 October 2012, if you are making a UK visa application as a visitor or under the points based system, you will need to make this application and your appointment at the visa application centre online. From this date, the UK Border Agency will not accept applications in these categories if they have been completed manually.

All applications and appointments for all visitor visa applications should be made online, for example for tourism, business or to see family, and applications under Tiers 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the points based system. Applicants will not be required to make settlement visa applications online until a later date.

The UKBA has published a list of financial institutions from which it will accept financial statements from Bangladesh to support visa applications made under the points based system. Applications will be refused if an institution not on the list is used.

Today (Wednesday 09 October) a new mobile biometric clinic in partnership with VFS Global is being introduced in Goa, India. The Goa mobile biometric clinic is by appointment only and there is an additional fee for using this service.

From 11 December 2012 all UK visa applications submitted in Kazakhstan will be decided at the UK Border Agency regional hub in Istanbul.
