New clinics in EU countries opened for UK visa applications

The UK Border Agency has set up a series of new mobile biometric clinics in various countries for people to supply information for a UK visa.

The initiative means that applicants will be able to lodge their applications online and then once they pay for their visa they can make an appointment at the new clinics being set up with WorldBridge.

A mobile clinic opens in Brussels on 23 August so that applicants will no longer have to travel to the visa application centre in Paris. The clinic at Rue des Colonies will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 09:30 to 16:30.

Attendance at the clinic will be by appointment only and will be subject to a service fee of €150.04 in addition to the visa fee. Customers will be supplied with a pre-addressed envelope to post their application to the UK Border Agency offices in Paris for consideration. Passports and any supporting documents will be returned directly to the applicants by courier once a decision on whether to grant a visa has been made.

Applicants who do not wish to use the mobile biometric clinic in Brussels will still be able to apply direct at the visa application centre in Paris.

A mobile clinic is also being opened in Lisbon on 26 August so that customers can supply their biometric information without needing to travel to another UK Border Agency office outside Portugal. The clinic in Hotel Sana Lisboa, Av. Fontes Perera de Melo, will be open every Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and the service fee is €152.52.

Those not wishing to use the mobile clinic will have to travel to the UK Border Agency office at the British Embassy in Madrid, except for certain types of application, which must be submitted in Lisbon or Madrid.

The clinic in Amsterdam opens on 15 August the Regus Business Centre, Amsterdam Atrium, Strawinskylaan 3051, and will be open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 with a service fee of €147.56.

The UK Border Agency has also launched its improved online service for booking appointments at public enquiry offices and biometric enrolment centers in the UK.

‘The online booking service has been brought together with our interactive UK application forms and online payments, providing a single convenient process for applicants in the UK,’ a spokesman said.

To use the improved service, applicants need to create their own online account. They can then book and reschedule appointments online without needing to phone the agency.

The improved service enables applicants to book an appointment at a time and place that suits them, searching across a number of locations at the same time.

‘All of our UK appointments will be available to book online, except those at Belfast public enquiry office. You will need to phone our immigration enquiry bureau to book appointments in Belfast,’ the spokesman added.
