As there is a thread about what things people like most about the States. I'm viewing this as more of a learning area, where we can see what things we need to improve on in the country. Have at it............

Contrary to very resistent rumors - building restrictions, building codes and the hassle, time not to mention fees associated with sometimes small changes. It took four days at city hall ( hour and a half one way plus 20$ parking), piles of dokumentation, pre-inspection and final inspection and a three digit permit fee to have a legal pre-fab tornado shelter produced?installed by a FEMA compliant company and founding member of ATSA.

I'd like to see my fellow Americans become more interested in other cultures and countries. We can be a bit insular.

Mark Twain said it best,

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."

The lack of accessibility to healthcare.... the only thing a hate about this country...

When a person was married 40ty years to an American and when widowed returned to the uk,that she had to lose her green card,I think in cases like this, that green card should be permenant and that way she can travel back to the US freely to visit relatives and not all this travel 3 months visa.

The easiest thing would have been to become a US citizen....they can come and go as they please!
