With all the posts on this forum that were so conflicting , i believe cofusion raineth for a purpose , it seems the police had taken over this particular office because they did not agree with the law .We all have to face up to the facts in Thailand , long stay people are not wanted , keep the country 'Pure 'and get out , or put up with all the static .

Good, sound advice Buzzer! I would not suggest that anyone going into the Land of Smiles acts like it's the Oklahoma Land Rush of the 1800's. This is one time where size really does matter, and I mean small. If you do invest, make sure the investment(s) is small, so that if you do lose your shirt, you still have some of your body parts covered and hopefully the most important parts!

No one should invest money in a foreign country unless they can afford to lose it. In some countries, like the US, you have the same legal protections as everybody else, but it isn't universally true. And even if it is, things change.

I recently moved to Thailand from the Uk looking to Semi Retire.. I was looking to invest in Property i looked at several companys in Thailand but decided to settle on the island of Phuket. So after a long process of looking at FOOLs and listening to them. I came across on the internet a site wwwdotfreedomleisuregroupdotcom they look to do every think.. I looked at a property developer through them call Phuket Boutique.. I have gone ahead with the project which is in SURIN... the Property is Freehold.. but they have a good rental plan for the weeks i wont be using it..

The FOOLS you have listened to and read about are real people telling of thier heart rending experiences , maybe elaborated upon , but TRUE FACTS .
YOU CANNOT LEGALY OWN PROPERTY INSIDE THE BORDERS OF THAILAND other than a condo, hope you have a couple of spare shirts tucked away .

Hi Buzzer , reading your message i was interested to learn more about you being "fed up after four years " and were thinking about leaving Thailand. I'm seriously considering a move to Chiang Mai from the U.K. later this year and have all the doubts and concerns that go along with this , After many trips to the north i now want to "give it a go" I'm a 37 year old self employed carpenter and i'm not really looking any further down the line than a couple of years so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't work out for me . I know a few expats in Chiang Mai and i've heard from all of them many times over how great it is out there , wished they'd done it years ago etc. etc. But from my own observations it does seem more of a lifestyle choice rather than somewhere to really make something of yourself , all of them seemed to be "just getting by" financially . This wouldn't bother me too much but i don't want to be on the bread line every other week ! If it's not too personal can i ask you about your experience in Thailand and some of the things that have led you to consider leaving ? Any advice would be great . Many thanks Biker Marc .
