Default The reality of life in Pattaya.......

The truth about Pattaya......(see my blog pics in the Photo Thread)

Pattaya has been heavilly criticised here and elsewhere.

But most of it is simply untrue!

The Beaches here are clean. Not a bit of rubbish on them.

The Sea is SO clean you could drink it. If it wasn't salty.

The Roads are smooth as billiard tables. Not a pot hole anywhere.

The Road users are polite and safe. Can't recall seeing an accident this year. No not one!

The Air is far cleaner than Chang Mai's. That's for sure.

Walking St is kept free of traffic, so that a guy can stroll along without fear of being hit by a motor vehicle whilst his attention is on the many lovely ladies in the many inexpensive Bars.

Those lovely Ladies will accompany one, if you are feeling lonely. Away from the wife and all that. They only charge a small fee for a relaxing massage in the comfort of ones room, and as they do so, will discuss Nuclear Physics, the parlous state of the World Economy, or whatever.......

This the Reality of life in dear old Pattaya. God Bless it.......

Nice! Hmm, I wonder if I can convince the GF to move there with me.. but maybe more fun if she stays home and I go there alone? :P

Well I've never suggested it's the pits... well not quite . It's just that to me it seems like one of those places cobbled together in a haphazard Thai manner that has grown too fast for the infrastructure. And it's not ideal for families, its main draw is still sex tourism, can't see that changing just yet? Crime and violence are major problems, con artists, all sorts of rip-off merchants naturally gravitate there.

It's just kind of... well... seedy. A bit like the Thai equivalent of Southend, plus the girls.

Other impressions? Thought that the average Thai there was less smiling and welcoming than elsewhere. Found the traffic pretty horrendous. And then there are all those miles of moo ban ghost villages, mainly owned by foreigners, two-thirds of whom are away. Just the odd gardener, maid, and pretty young wife wandering around. Just doesn't feel real to me.

Otherwise Pattaya's great!

You Swedes, you're all alike . We want no Bjorn Borg lookalikes in Chiang Mai, chasing all the good-looking women. You stick to Pattaya

Of course lads I was lying in my teeth!

Froggy's description is nearer the mark.

I live just on the outskirts of Town. It's quiet and although not exactly beautiful. I like it.

One is never bored in Pattaya I find. Unlike some places I have been to.....

It is rather like a Wild West Town though. Once saw a couple of Lads on a Motorbike being chased by a Gang, who were shooting pistols at them!

The place I stay at is as you come in from Bkk, about half a mile before you get to the big underpass/overpass thingy where you turn left to go into town, there's a 7/11 on the opposite side of the road. Big Korean school in that area. Behind the 7/11 there are hundreds of houses, that seem to be nearly all owned by farangs... in in my mate's soi, they all seem to be from Brummy.

A good 10/15 minute's drive into town from there, depending on the time of day/traffic...
