Well I don't know about the perfect neighbourhood S2 - in fact once upon a time this was one of the rougher parts of town (suits me ) - but I think I've found somewhere. Not quite as central as before, about 1.5 km due south of the moat on a small quiet soi off Si Ping Muang, near to the Nim See Seng Hotel and five minutes walk from the Central Airport Plaza ...

A six month rental on this place is about to be signed...

Ok I'm not so keen on the colour ...

And it's only got beds, cupboards and curtains ...

... so I'll have to get hold of a cheap cooker, a couple of easy chairs, and a table ... but it's completely refurbished, clean, and has phone line connected for the internet to be set up before I arrive.

How much? Not including utilities, 8,500 baht pm, which isn't so bad for a sizeable 2 bedroomed house. It'll do for six months

frogblogger,

Congrats on your new digs!

You can soon say you live in Casa Rosada. Chiang Mai instead of Buenos Aires. THB 8500 is not bad - less than $250 per month or GBP165. Perhaps another GBP 50-60 for utilities? I'm guessing you have to buy linen, a television, computer, flatware, dishes etc? You're out by the airport/university then? I would suspect transport to town is pretty easily accomplished to Tha Phae gate area.
