Default Student accommodation near Chulalongkorn University

I am an American student going to Chulalongkorn University from August 2012- May 2013. I am looking for any recommendation about student accommodations near Chulalongkorn. Unfortunately, Suksit Nives International House is full. Can anybody give me a recommendation? Or does anybody need a room mate?

Thanks,
T

I don't know anything about student housing situation. My impression is that BKK has become such a financial center that the area you talks about is right in the heart of the city. Maybe you can look for something further out on BTS lines. Just a guess since I don't live here.

I was a student at Chula 12 years ago. Well, I am Thai but nosing about in here looking for info about moving back to Thailand with my hubby from the UK.

If you need a roommate:
When we wanted to advertise something or look for something, we could put flyers up on phonebooths or anywhere else flyers had been put there before. I did loads of them when I was a part-time tutor (ching ching .

Please check if this tradition is still acceptable. If not, ask if there are any notice boards near the biggest cafeteria (which possibly is still the one at Chula Book store). Put your flyers there for best results.

If you can do without a roomate:
Go to MBK, cross the flyover to Rama I Road (towards the National Stadium not World Trade Centre). There are little roads (soi) off Rama I Road and lots of apartment blocks where many of my uni classmates rented. You could also try Suan Plu, Rang Nam and Victory Monument areas but they are a little further out. I don't think prices differ that much. Check Bangkok Post or the Nation Classified/properpties sections, maybe you could find something.

If budget allows, go for the newest building not a refurbished one. I just do not trust old high-risers in BKK.

If all fails, PM me, I could ask friends who know BKK much better than I do now. Some of them still rent apartments. But I think Rama I area is best.

Cheers.

Dani
