Default Instituto Hemingway

Hi again,

I've also looked into programs where I could intern - possibly network during the program - and secure a job. I've found "Instituto Hemingway" and I'm curious if anyone has input on the company. Thanks again.

Hi Rachel,

I would not recommend using a company such as Instituto Hemingway for your internship abroad. I used the Instituto Hemingway to work in Spain this summer and let me tell you that it is a rip off and a con. You should not have to pay money in order to work for someone and I found it out the hard way.
I was working at least 50 hours a week in the hotel which was slave labour and I was only being paid 200 euros a month - while also taking into consideration that I had to pay out 500 euros in the first place to the Instituto so basically I was making a loss. Also, I was placed in an apartment 10 mins drive away from the hotel with 2 guys that worked in the hotel, which as a girl in her 20s felt a little uncomfortable.
The company are also very unhelpful and do not offer the services they say they do such as orientation upon arrival or an emergency contact number.

I can't input urls because i am a new user but if you go to -

jobs . accor . com

it is a hotel company that offer internships directly - you dont have to pay anything, they pay you! Which is the way it should be!
When you go to the link select Spain for the country and then select training as the position instead of job. This will give you a few options to work in a spanish hotel as an intern!
Good luck!

I got enrolled with Instituto Hemingway to participate in that great program of a paid internship in Spain. I just want to say THANK YOU I worked as an intern 35 hours weekly, met lots of interesting great people, made tons of friends and enjoyed the program from the very beginning. I was in a village out of the typical route for foreigners and my Spanish improved so much than now I can say I am bilingual. If it was not for Instituto Hemingway I would have made my dream true, living in Spain and get deeply involved in the culture.

Of course I understand they need to charge for the service of placement, insurance and follow-up and honestly it is not so much. I personally spend money in useless things that at the end of the day do not mean anything to me. I totally recommend Instituto Hemingway to anybody interested to live in Spain.

I would recommend using the company called Instituto Hemingway. I was really happy with them. They are professional, trustworthy and efficient. If it was not for them I would not have lived such a good time there in Spain. Thanks Instituto Hemingway!!
