Sorry not come back sooner - had a busy weekend singing. Could you change name to Peter and Fiona. Also, I put my website address into the box when I signed up, but it isn't on my messages. Is it ok to put it on? Do you know this - If we get Spanish plates etc on our English car. What happens when we bring the car back to the UK. Do you know long can we run on Spanish plates in the UK? It seems to be so complicated because we are coming back for November December. Much appreciate your help |

State and private pensions can be taxed in the UK and offshore bonds have a 20 years, 5% p/a tax-free withdrawal of capital option. The only way the authorities could get to know is if you encashed the bond and were issued with a 'Chargeable Event Certificate'. If someone is living in Spain on a pension and not doing undeclared work they should have nothing to worry about. It's impossible to tell how long someone has been in the country since they stopped stamping passports. We will pay VAT on practically everything that we buy so why would the Spanish authorities concern themselves with us if we are law abiding? There is absolutely nothing wrong with opening a Spanish bank account, I would think that we need one. |

This is now not the case, Labour ministers owning villas in Tuscany might be the reason. ![]() |

Our accountant tells us that reciprocal agreements mean that you are taxed in one country only. In our case that will be the UK. Same situation as here in the Czech Republic.
10p tax rate won't make any appreciable difference! This board is very useful - the information given is much appreciated. We want to rent long-term, for at least five years until a family property will be available for us. You need a vivienda - is that right? How common are rental properties with a five-year vivienda? |

We're looking in the Marbella area - loads of nice country houses on 'long term' rental basis. Just wondering how long term that is...... |
