Me again (on my lunchhour - dont post on here all the time!!!!)

3.5 million I believe and climbing - higher than the UK with a much smaller population! work is very very hard to find at the moment and loads of friends of mine have been made redundant recently with little prospect of finding something else. If you have no Spanish it makes it even harder ...... bit there are also many Spaniards out of work too so you will be up against a lot of people to get anything thats advertised.

Also if you havent been paying into the system here you wont be entitled to any unemployment benefit - and even if you were its not a lot of money and its only given over a period of time depending on your work history.

Wish it were good news!

Officially 15% - realistically much higher. Over 2 million unemployed in the services sector and the building sector's unemployment has doubled in 9 months.

The Wage Agreement has not been signed for 2009 (at less than 2º) and nobody seems in a hurry to sign.

Unemployment twice the median for Europe and 200,000 legalised immigrants waiting to be sent home with grants.

Apart from that it's paradise!
