Default Thinking of moving to Spain

Hey there everyone, i am a Canadian thinking about moving to Spain, would love to buy a property as i own a condo here and would like to keep my money in a property, really don't know much about the process of buying abroad or if it's even possible for me. Just started to consider the move, very overwhelming. Anyone know what a great place to start would be, don't speak spanish yet, so would prefer to live somewhere with a decent population of english speaking people or tourists.
Any ideas? Also on a limited budget.
Thanks so much!!

HI,

Good thought about keeping money in property and as you do not speak Spanish, then to move to a tourist area would be a good idea. The Costa Blanca South is a good area, the prices are still reasonable and the weather is good and there are lots of tourists from all parts. If you would like help finding somewhere, then do contact me by PM and I will see what we can do for you with our staff in Spain.

Dave

Hello,
We are thinking about moving to the Costa Blanca - Denia would be ideal. Do you have any property in that region? What about the current property market with all the news about prices crashing in Spain? Is it a good time to buy or should we wait untill next year?

Thumbs up

Hi Martyn,

Yes we do have property in the Denia area, but it depends on what you want, if you can e.mail me direct on damatt@tiscali.co.uk with just what you want, ie: location, bedrooms, bathrooms, type of property, basically your wish list for the property and how much you want to pay, do you want key ready, off plan, or resale, how soon do you want it, then we will look to see what we can find for you.

Can you also give us a contact number so we can speak to you if we have any questions.

Cheers

Dave

Hi,
Our budget is £300k. We want it as "sea-front" as possible. Exact location we are not too fussed and spec wise it should be the best for that budget...However I am getting increasingly concerned about this crash in the Spanish market. We are not in a hurry to buy so may just wait it out a bit to see what happens.
Thanks

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the info.

With regards to the "Crash", the rise has slowed a little, this is due, in the main the the amount of property available for sale, so it is maybe a good time to buy as the buyer has the upper hand at present so you may get more for your money.

Buying in Spain is not something that you rush into, so would always expect it to take some time to find just the right place, we have some customers who have been looking for almost 12 months.

As we are now taking personal information, it may be better if we contacted direct and not via the forum, we don't want all the world to see your information.

Hope to hear from you soon, in the mean time,I will start to look for something as an example.

Cheers

Dave

Are you sure you want to buy right away? It does seem like a good time to buy, but it might be wiser to rent somewhere for at least a year, unless you are sure it is a good investment. I've seen a lot of people choose a retirement location, sell everything, start setting up, and once the excitement of a new place is over, they discover they don't like it. So getting a place you are sure would at least hold its value is key.

I can help you. We deal with properties across Spain. I like the costa blanca north where I live, has good expat english population, services, it is stunning scenery and the climate is the best or one of the best in the world.
