I fully agree that a holiday visit is highly recommended prior to moving to Spain but I totally disagree with the rest. Your impressions seem to be very personal and biased. My experience is very different from Yours: Very kind and tolerant people, environemnatally very conscious, pet loving, good compensation for good work an inexpensive cost of living.

Gigi - You may be eligible for a Spanish passport if your mother was born in Spain. I don't know much about the Spanish rules for getting citizenship and a passport, but I do know that having an EU passport gives you right of residence here, and the right to work. Getting a work permit otherwise will be very difficult if not impossible.

Hi Martin,

As I have said before, sea front are few and far between, but I have found a property, 3 beds, with garage, parking space, garden, fireplace and pool in Vergal, Denia, just 600m from the sea and 500m from the village with an asking price of £260000.

If you are interested in having further information, then e.mail me on damatt@tiscali.co.uk and I will send more details.

Cheers

Dave

Smile Still looking Diana83?

hi,
Try doing a google search on 'Costa de la Luz' or 'Cadiz province'. If you like what you see and think these areas may well be where you would like to live, send me an e-mail: paul@spanish-sol-utions.com and we can give you more info on visas and legal requirements etc.
Have fun searching & Good luck

Iwould also think that you should rent property for the first year until you are positive of just where you really want to live. I know when we first started visiting Spain we loved all the areas we visited. BUT when it came to actually moving here we drove the costal area and Nerja, Costa del Sol, beat them all out by far. It is a very quiet beach town east of Malaga. Great beaches, lots of English speaking residents, but still very Spanish.

Give your area some serious thought before you make the jump into property ownership.

Wils & Nance will become famous soon enoughWils & Nance will become famous soon enough
Smile Hello to All !

My husband and I have been looking into moving to Spain for the past 2years now. We have been over a few times and looked at different areas, and found some we love ! The problem we are having is finding my husband a job, he is a very highly qualified 4x4 mechanic (mitsibishi & suzuki trained) although he works on anything and does his own modifications on motorcyles, it seems no-one wants a Scots mechanic ?
Myself , I will turn my hand to anything and have done many times, I would love to get into property sales. At present I am in sales of appliances for a major power provider in the Scottish Highlands, and prior to that i was a holiday rep in the greek islands. I have managed a hotel bar, fairly flexible, so I am confident I will get work there when we are there, but hubby wants to have a job to go to beforehand !!!
Please, can anyone out there give us any advice or tips to find him work in the Almeria or Murcia regions !!!!!!!
I just can't cope with another winter in the highlands, Brrrrr !
My son lives in the Murcia region with his Spanish girlfriend and he teaches english there, so we are going to make a very permanant move.
Thank you, any info would be greatly appreciated !

A big problem for a lot of people as it is not easy to get a job in Spain when you are living in Scotland and it is a bit of a risk 'just going over there'
Good skilled people generally can find work anywhere
I can give you all the help you need to re locate settle in and the technical aspects of working in Spain but on the jobs front you just have to go over and start looking
There are web sites you can look at on google so you may find some info
Why not spend a couple of weeks over there just looking and going direct [cold call]to potential employers and see what turns up

Hi, and thank you for your response.
We have every intention of going over again and doing that very thing !
We were over in June this year and changed our minds as we were based in Torrevieja that area is just not for us, so didn't cold call as you say !
But we spent many drivng hours visiting Almeria and Murcia and found these to be more suitable areas for us.
I had just hoped maybe I was missing some other way of sourcing jobs and that some-one may enlighten me !
And thank you for your offer of help, we may well take you up on that, we plan to sell up completely, rent for a year or two, then buy, so you could prove to be a great help, thank you !
