Me Again.

I have found a few places in britain that specialise in selling lhd spainish registered cars. Has anyone done the move this way i thought it might be easier than trying to find one over there.

We were going to do that, it would have made trading my UK car easier, BUT, my husband worked out that it would have been more expensive and complicated. I dont know why, but he went into it very thoroughly. We bought a car here from a main dealer, who agreed to do all the paperwork FOC, which can be costly and complicated

I researched this when I left and the UK LHD car companies were quite expensive. Then I looked at buying in Germany and its true to say you can pick up a bargain there.

You just need to bear in mind that you need to have owned it for 6 months when you come here. That means theoretically you might need to change to UK plates and then change to Spanish plates which is a pain. Spanish matriculation will cost you about €600 - €900.

In the end we decided it was too much hassle and bought here.

Thanks for the quick replys. Also looking into just hireing cars for the long term Got a quote for £220 a months. When you look at the fact this covers itv, tax, insurance and breakdown plus you get a new car every month this seems agood option much the same as finance but with more extras.

Visit the ITV "import" offices - and look at the papers the import co's carry. Generally German papers and normally Jahreswagen. My land rover was cheaper here than Germany as back then 4WD paid next to no registration tax. This has sadly (for me) changed.
