My partner and I are thinking of taking up a property in Villanueve de Algaidas and wondered if anyone would be kind enough to give us some information on house prices and any other information on this region.

Hi, I dont know what prices are like in that area at the moment, but houses prices are falling here. The best thing to do is google the area you're looking at and see what properties come up. It'll give you an idea.

What else do you want to know?? The Spanish way of life is more relaxed, more spacious and less gloomy in my opinion than the UK and obviously the weather is better! (apart from this week, it hasnt stopped raining!!). There is rising inflation, there is mass unemployment and Spain is in recession - like the UK. But its not as expensive as the UK, But could it catch up?????

Thanks for the information and the quick reply jojo. My partner is a senior psychotherapist and I am a mobile hairdresser. Do you think the financial situation at the moment would have a marked effect in these services?

Hairdressing, maybe you'll get a bit of work here and there, but it may not be enough to live on - Hairdressing is a funny business, its the first thing to go when people need to cut back, but also, if you're good and get a reputation for being good, people will seek you out. Sadly, its not gonna be a quick money spinner either way

As for psychotherapy, I havent a clue. I dont know if the qualifications would carry over here, or if there is such a thing in Spain. Is it something you can start up as a businessor do you need to work within a hospital??

Times are hard here though and the one big tip I would give you is to rent, NOT buy for several reasons. Property prices are in free fall, you may not get work, you may want to toy with areas or you may not like it here???
