Default Tips for getting a Removals Quote

Hi All!

If you are looking to take some or all of your belongings with you when you emigrate (or indeed return) and are looking for a removal company to do this for you then I thought the following tips for going out and getting quotes might be useful:

- Unless you've already got a specific company you want to use (maybe you've moved with them before) then get three quotes, this allows you to compare prices and more importantly service to make sure you're getting what you need, and value for money.

- When you compare your quotes make sure all the companies are quoting like for like - i.e. the same volume of belongings and the same services (i.e. packing). Also check the transit times, whether it is an exclusive or groupage quote and what is and isn't included. Also check what the insurance premium is and factor this into your overall cost sums.

- Some indication of if a mover is reputable can be industry accreditations and membership of professional associations. FIDI FAIM is the international moving standard that sets quality movers apart, you can check for your nearest member at FIDI . Members of the British Association of Removers Overseas moving group also subscribe to the IMMI financial bonding scheme, which means that if anything happens to the company whilst your items are in transit then you are financially covered for any advance payment and you wont have to pay any extra to have the service completed by another BAR member. ISO 9001:2008 quality standard also indicates a company whose entire operation has been deemed as the highest quality.

- Find out which agent your moving company uses at destination if they don't have worldwide offices, and ensure they are also reputable by checking their quality accreditations as above.

- Don't be afraid to ask questions, whilst we move people all around the world every day, we understand that you will probably do it just the once! Make sure you are comfortable with the entire process and that you understand what your responsibilities are with regards to customs documentation for example.

And that's just getting the quote For more useful hints and tips visit our website, give us a call or join in the conversation!

Happy Moving
