Pammy, while Gavek may be the boos, don't worry, you own the company.

Yes, if Indians are going to rule the world then I want Pammy right up there, making sure all our grammar and punctuation is correct too.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate the input as I try to understand how things work out there.

So the fact the employers are looking for Indians indicate that the proficiency of the local language is not critical or even required in many positions.
Is English so prevalent that it doesn't effect performance?
Is that the case only with upper management or down to lower levels?

I would not say speaking Arabic might not be helpful at times but there is no need for it. Truth is that Arabic speakers from places like Jordan and Egypt are paid less than native English speakers in similar positions. Everyone speaks English in any mid level or above position and in any office job except the guy sweeping the floors possibly.

Locals speak Arabic among themselves and will switch to English when speaking to others. The service industry consists of probably 90% people who speak zero Arabic and know English as a second language, mainly from India or SE Asia (with the largest percentage being the Philippines)
