Default Hospital emergency

Hi there!
Coming from al sufouh, if I had to take someone to the hospital because of an emergency (the cardiac kind...), where should I go?
Closest? And safest? Maybe 2 different answers???
I'm expecting a visit from somebody very close and with a weak heart;-((
Thanks a lot...

There's a big fancy new one in Al Barsha, Saudi German Hospital. There's one on SZR in Al Barsha too, blue glass building, don't know what it's called.

I believe the best CCU/ICU facilities here are actually at Rashid Hospital. Nearer to you would also be Medcare at Safa Park and Emirates Hospital on the Beach Road. Calling 999 tends to be quite an interesting experience. Many times the call is answered by someone who doesn't have much of a grasp of English.

Thanks!! I know both Rashid and Medcare (thanks to my kids, I've been busy in such a short time here!!), so they were my first choices.. At least I know how to get there, which can be important when there's an emergency...
I heard that calling 999 was mostly for car accidents, or anything involving the law...
Many thanks for your reply!!!!

The core word over here is : emergency ....... something involving life & death so incase of cardiac issues 999 could help & I spoke Arabic to them . English will work ...... the thing is not to call them for non emergency issues & not to call them many many times

Call 999 in case of any emergency, the response time is not that long.
The difficult thing is to explaine the the actual location so that they can find you.
I dont know how good they are with tracking you over GPRS.

maybe slightly off topic but what documents do you need to have (on you?) to receive medical treatment in Dubai? Do they want to see evidence of your medical insurance beforehand?

If so I need to copy some documents and put in my purse just in case.

You would need your medical insurance card and some proof of identification with a photograph. At Medcare, they ask for your ID card but you could, I guess, use your labour card or driving licence. Failing that, your passport.

I am with Kawa on the location problem. I had to call the fire brigade recently and no-one spoke English. Luckily, I was able to pass the telephone to someone who spoke Arabic. Just in case anyone is interested, one of the bins on the street caught fire.
