Housing in Goa?

I've been considering renting a house in Goa for next winter, just because someone on a forum said they had found a really good deal. How much would a small house cost? I don't need much room myself, but would like to have some friends visit.

Take care before you buy or rent. Find a good agent - maybe a word of mouth reference. Do not try to rely on Internet names.
There are alot of frauds in Goa sale of homes - and this is a warning from an Indian !!
Go through a reputed agent !!

I suppose it would be better to wait until I'm there to look. I met some vacationers in Varkala a couple of years ago who rented a house for two months once they had arrived and looked around a bit.
