Default Nursing in SE Asia

Hi All

Does anyone have any tips on finding work as a nurse in South East Asia? I would love to live and work in Laos, but also thinking about Cambodia, Vietnam or Thailand. Any advice on people or organisations to contact would be appreciated.

Where are you from? That could affect licensing. And what languages do you speak? Unless you are coming in on an aid mission, you are unlikely to be provided with a translator. Wages will not be good, either. Singapore is a possibility, and I have met nurses from the UK who worked there. I really don't know what the situation would be in Thailand or Malaysia, but maybe in a hospital that caters to expats.

Were you thinking about volunteering, or were you thinking of a regular job in a hospital or clinic?

Hi Alicia,

I live in Saigon, Vietnam and very close to the FV hospital. Its a wonderful French Vietnamese hospital with very good facilities. I will make some enquiries for you on job availability and the sort of wage you can expect and i'll get back to you

Regards

Dorothy

SE Asia may be a difficult place to find work as a nurse since there's so much competition. There are many nursing grads who don't have work. Many have taken the RN route as a way to get into more developed countries.

I am an American registered nurse that has 18 months experience in the ICU. I'm seeking nursing employment or even A volunteer position to stay in touch with nursing. I live in Saigon district 1. Any suggestions would be great. I'm not too concerned with the pay.

Default nursing SE asia

Hi everyone,

My question is pretty much the same as Alicia's in 2008...
Does anyone have any tips on finding work as a nurse in South East Asia? I would love to live and work in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam or Thailand or anywhere in asia.
Im a New Zealand registered Nurse and only speak English.
Any advice on people or organisations to contact would be appreciated...
Thanks,
Allie
