An imposing historic manor house and farm for sale on the outskirts of Tomar in central Portugal. The manor house, which dates back to the 16th century, is in a good state of repair and has many unique features including a private chapel with stained glass windows, hand painted wall and floor tiles and hand carved masonry.
The manor house was constructed some 500 years ago, though additional farm buildings and cottages have been added through the years.
The property is situated in a private location but only seven kilometres from Tomar.

The farm is substantial and as well as providing a large detached manor house there are six refurbished guest cottages, a banqueting hall and substantial detached garage as well as further cottages in need of renovation work, annexes and other farm buildings.

The property is licensed as an 'Agro-Tourism' location and currently receives and hosts visitors from around the world. The property is connected to mains electricity and water and briefly comprises:

Manor House

The manor house, which has an unusual 1930s towers, is set over three floors and measures a total of 576 square metres of construction.

The manor house has many traditional features, all of which are in good repair. There is a large walled courtyard area to the front of the manor house, which is ideal for parking and provides privacy from the rest of the farm.

This courtyard has a variety of mature orange trees and bougainvillea shrubs. The courtyard is entered via a set of wrought iron gates with hand carved stone gate posts. To the front of the manor house there is a large walled courtyard area which is accessed via a set of hand carved stone gates.

Above the main entrance to the house there is a hand carved plague with the coat of arms of the property's family as well as another with the history of the property. The main entrance is a double opening, wooden carved door, with large, traditional style iron furniture.

Ground Floor: The entrance hall has traditional ceramic floor, interspersed with hand painted features tiles and a decorative wooden ceiling. There is a hand carved stone archway which leads through to a unique, polished wood, elaborate staircase.

Off this hallway there is access to an independent apartment suite within the manor house. This apartment is set over two floors and while is completely self contained, though still part of the house.

This apartment suite has a study with wooden floor and ceiling and corner stone fireplace. This leads through to a living room, which also has a wooden floor and ceiling and corner fireplace. There are four further rooms within this suite which have been used as a bedroom, dressing room and for storage. In addition to this there are two bathrooms within this suite, both of which have hand painted tiles to the walls.


To the ground floor of this apartment there is a double aspect kitchen with a ceramic floor and wooden ceiling. There is a large, traditional style stone carved fireplace within the kitchen. Off the kitchen there are two pantries, one of which has an external access door. All of these room have wooden framed windows within decorative internal shutters.


There are a further ten rooms, of varying sizes to the ground floor of the property, some of which have been used as living accommodation in the past for servants and staff. Five of these room are self contained from the rest of the house and could be converted into a second self contained suite apartment if required.

First Floor: The majority of formal living accommodation for the manor house is situated on the first floor. The first floor accommodation can be accessed both internally via the wooden central staircase of via an external stone staircase which leads to a large covered terrace. This terraced has a ceramic tiled floor and hand painted tiled to the walls. The terrace also has hand carved stone pillars.

There is a spacious formal living room, with large, carved stone central fireplace and two sets of glazed panelled doors which lead out to the covered terrace. The living room has a wooden floor and decorative wooden ceiling. The living room can be accessed via an internal hallway or from a dining room.


Off the living room there is a bedroom suite, which has a large bedroom with a wooden floor and ceiling. This bedroom can be accessed also from a large, Marquise room. Off the living room there is a spacious dining room, which ahs a similar decorative wooden ceiling and a wooden floor. There is a smaller fireplace within the dining room. The dining room also has had painted tiles to the lower half of the walls.

There is a 29 square metre 'Marquise' sun room on this floor, which has a traditional tiled floor and views over the garden. There are six large bedroom suites to this floor, all with decorative wooden floors and ceilings and traditional style wardrobes with part glazed doors. One of these bedrooms has a corner mullioned window which over looks the courtyard. This bedroom also has

hand painted tiles to the lower half of the walls. There are four bathrooms all with hand painted tiles and original fitments. Three of these bathrooms have roll top baths with claw feet. There is a dressing room off one of the bathrooms. This dressing room has wall to ceiling, built in wooden wardrobes and vanity units and a tiled floor.


Chapel: The property has a private chapel, complete with vaulted ceiling and stained glass window. This chapel can be accessed internally from the first floor or externally. The chapel has an alter with hand carved stone surrounds and a ceramic tiled floor interspersed with smaller hand painted ones. There are tiled freezes on the walls, dating back to the 17th century as well as a wooden gallery which is accessed from the second floor.
