Default Centrelink payments and renting

Hi Anj,

I have 2 questions and I am sure you have the answers

1) What kind of centrelink payments will I get, considering I am moving with wife and 4 month kid? Looked at the website and I saw that I might be eligible for Family Tax Benefit A&B, Baby Bonus, Rent allowance and Maternity immuniasation. But, I'd love a real time view of the same. How much do you suppose I will get?

I know people prefer annual payments so that they dont have to get into a debt but I'd rather fortnightly payments and can payback (if need be) once I have a job.

2) Will I be able to rent a place given that I am still hunting for a job? Do they rent out places to people like that?

Thanks a lot for your help.

it should be around 400-450 per month i think but it depends on your income, for someone earning between 60k to 80k i think it should be around this much. check on online calculator. Yes you can opt for annual payment or fortnightly or monthly

yes they do, it is a little difficult to rent it out without any rental history and references, if you have to rent your property out to someone who has no history, no references, will you rent it out to that person or choose another applicant who is giving 5 references and has years of rental history?? I used to find it unfair but now that i think of it, i dont blame them, they get lots of applicants and they choose the one that looks most favorable, after all everyone wants a hassle free life.

As for vaccines, yeah attached one is download the latest one from the council's website. take it to the doc, ask him to make a list of vaccines he has given already and ones tht he has not out of this list, try to get them and take a letter, this was one thing i did not do and my daughter, poor thing, had to get so many of them.. ignore the second page, it has schedule of immunisation days for the area wehre I stay, the first page has all the info.
Hi,

I am planning to move with family to melbourne in Sept 2012, I have a 3 year old son. Wanted to know if we need to get a letter from the doctor on all the vaccines taken so far? or do we give him the ones like whooping cough etc which we dont generally give in india before we leave?

Appreciate your feedback.

Regards

HI All,

Anyone moved to Melbourne recently? Would like to know which shipping companies you may have used or would recommend for moving household items like furniture etc?

Vinod, i do not suggest shipping your furniture over, the stuff needs quarantine plus prone to breaking, not worth it. Buy here, there are lot of second hand options, check gumtree.

as for vaccines, search the forum, i have replied heaps of times, and no you do not need whooping cough vaccine from there, but make sure the others are up to date and get a letter from the doc, download vaccine schedule for kids, google it, take a print, ask the doc to write which vaccine he gave at what age and teh corresponding one here, they do update it but if you have it ready for them, they will make it faster, my daughter had to take 10 shots in a span of 6 months, she finally was up to date after those 10 shots.. This was one mistake that I made.

look for thread.. preparations so far and i'm here.. experience so far, these two threads have a lot of info shared by me and other forum members, a lot of questions that you might have soon..
