I havent had any trouble so far but i am always with my girlfriend getting around as i am still new here. using jeepney, tricycle , or tartanilla, there are the usual looks , hahahahahaha, but i have seen several "WHITE HEADS"" here and they seem to be ok.,one i spoke to when i was in a fast food joint for breakfast waiting for the shopping centre to open "GAISANO is the shopping centres name, "HE" was from Canada and gave some advice on visa extension , saying i could get a 12 month visa if i was married , (that is happening soon) , he also mentioned he and his filipino wife just bought a beach-side resort , but i forget which one !!! it must be close to here.....Some tourist sites are the waterfalls , ILIGAN is called the city of waterfalls. There are many.the main one is MARIA CHRISTINA FALLS which runs the power source. we took many pictures of our day there and posted them on facebook.

Hi , how are you , I arrived in Iligan after a long trip from aus. on the 15th., july
I started out from newcastle n.s.w. on the 13th cought the train to Sydney flew to Darwin , Darwin to Manila , then I flew to Cagayan De Oro where i met my girlfriend at the airport and we stayed at a nice hotel for 2 days before coming to Iligan City.
We stayed here for a couple of days before flying back to Manila on the 20th to get to the Aus. Embassy for No Impediment Papers the following day we caught ferry from Manila to Iligan (2 nights and three days) and we have been here in Iligan since.
We have only been to one waterfall site so far , the Maria Christina Falls , which powers the city , amazing !!!!!., I've seen the local shops the major SM very busy and experienced my first power blackout (8 hours) no hot water just cold showers , I'm impressed with the price of everything here ,,( so cheap) wow.
We are also trying to get things happening for ourselves in the way of income , slowly , slowly .
regards.,
Glenn

Ok welcome , sad we can't afford to live in our own country but unless you are female in a Government job it is impossible.

I was reading if you had $1M before a divorce you ended up with $270K at the end as men got a worse deal than the ex wife.
I can agreed with this.
There are a lot moving out of their own country as things get worse with the worlds economy so you are not alone. I live on the other side of here In San Miguel Bulacan, found Google Earth is a help to find your way around.
Enjoy it here have a good time and good luck.

Yes , things have certainly changed , not for the better. Its is near impossible to get a job in the mining sector too, unless female or a migrant.
How is the flood situation there , Cathy and me were watching the news TV Patrol last night and it seems to have affected a lot of people.
Wow , how about the amount of security guards , Gee when we were there in Makati
to get the no impediment form from the Aus. Embassy , so many chromed shot-guns and inside the building K-9 squad going back and forth also. Even here in Iligan nearly every shop has a security guard at the door especially at the SM and having to leave bags outside as well , now thats a new experience !!
The jeepneys are a new experience too , I keep banging my head on the roof everytime i get on one or get off , hahahahahahaha and im only 5'7".
The only thing I know of San Miguel is the have a full strength lite beer ?
taste good though , oh so nice on these warm nights.
I tried uploading pictures of here but the system didnt allow it? and im not sure if i can give facebook address either.

anyway, back to this life here , enjoy !!
