From looking at the map we were a little more then 20 miles from the center, directly across on the east coast of Cebu Island. Ground was shaking violently, almost impossible to walk and made me very dizzy. Thankfully, only lasted a few seconds with several smaller aftershocks. This was my first and, hopefully, the last. Very scary, the enormity of it and the total lack of control. From what I have read all the fatalities are on Negros. Thankfully, no one was killed during the panic in Cebu City and Dumaguete.

I really hope so, but I sincerely doubt it. The pacific ring of fire usually does the rounds. Japan and Chile were hit hard in the last two years - I hope it won't happen again.

No one remembers the 1960 Valdivia earthquake? We have it pretty good I'd say.
