Default Looking for work in the NGO/Voluntary sector Netherlands/EU.

Hi, I am looking for employment in Holland. I am currently working as a teaching assistant for a citizens advocacy group in the North East of England called Crisis - and also work on a part time basis for the North of England Refugee service fulfilling a similar role.

As part of my duties, in addition to teaching basic IT literacy, numeracy and language skills, I also work to advocate the rights and to provide a voice for people from a wide range of disadvantaged backgrounds, from those suffering from drug and alcohol related problems, to debt related issues, to individuals suffering from a wide range of mental health related problems.

I have searched far and wide on the Internet for web sites offering NGO/voluntary sector type jobs in the Netherlands - but have so far found very little of this nature. Can anyone advise of any reliable resources or web sites for finding jobs of this type - or indeed for employment in the Netherlands in general? Most of the web sites I have found have been for fake 'work at home' type jobs - and I have spent the last 4 weeks searching without much luck. It doesn't seem as though many jobs of this type are advertised outside of their native countries.

I'm not stuck on just looking for work in Holland - and would also consider working on any other part of Europe.

With warm regards,

George.

Seriously though, are there any jobs at all within the social work/NGO/voluntary sector at all in Europe? In the UK all these jobs are well advertised and well listed I think we are required to list them by law), but I have struggled to find any similar opportunities in any other part in Europe - and in Holland there appears to be nothing at all. Or at least nothing on the internet).

It's very strange really.

PS

I am currently living in the UK.

I'd take a look at the NGO jobs section of the Guardian Weekly. About once a month they have a section on NGO's and a special jobs section advertising such jobs, pretty much around the world.

Not sure if they do something similar in the UK editions of the Guardian, but the Guardian Weekly is a weekly publication they do for expats, summarizing the news of the week.

Though you may find that the kind of work you're looking to do is covered in many European countries by various "civil service" functions - and thus may be a bit difficult to break into as a foreigner (even from within the EU). You might also try checking the Eures pages EUROPA - EURES - the European Job Mobility Portal - EURES is the EU organization charged with job mobility within the EU.
Cheers,
Bev
