Default Looking to teach in Philippines or work there

I am William M. Vasquez with a desire to teach or work in a field where my talents can be utilized in the Philippines. I have experience as a computer programmer and teacher. Over the last 34 years I have worked using the COBOL Programming language on IBM Mainframe computers. Throughout this time period, I have also taught Conversational English, Drama and COBOL (computer programming). I have also coached Baseball and American Football at junior high level. I will gladly send my 3 resumes of my experiences to whomever requests them.
The first is my teaching experience. The second is 34 years of Mainframe (Legacy) COBOL programming. The last is my resume for acting. It will be noticed on my resume that here in America programming contracts were becoming shorter and less frequent due to outsourcing to Asia. Most contracts go to India, where COBOL is thriving. I am not bitter, but want to move on. I will gladly help Filipinos learn COBOL to take advantage of contracts in India and America.
I am also a novelist. My first novel, “Love’s Bouquet” is available on most bookstore internet sites in America, such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You may attempt to search using the title or for the author name of “W. M. Vasquez”. I was writing my next novel in the Philippines. When I return, I will do a little more research and finish it there.

With COBOL Programming, I believe schools can increase the worth of their students if them give them the option of learning COBOL for mainframe computers. Over the next 5 to 10 years, over 250,000 COBOL programmers will be retiring from the work force in America. Schools in America do not teach COBOL anymore. This will open up the floodgates for job opportunity to students who have knowledge of COBOL. Presently, many companies are passing up the Philippines and going to India, for IT programmers who have knowledge of COBOL since it is not taught in the Philippines. They will soon be looking for programmers who can facilitate the future need for mainframe programmers. Today, there is a major shortage of COBOL programmers in India, too. If you go to Monster dot com slash India and search for COBOL you see numerous jobs found for COBOL developers. I can supply articles on this subject, also.
I want return to the Philippines to allow my four year old son to go to school there and learn the language. For me to stay year round, I was told by immigration to seek a position which might fulfill a need in one of the local colleges. I do love living in the the Philippines with my son. I want to remain there when I retire afterwards. I am not looking for an American salary, only what is needed to live there.
My acting career span’s over 4 decades. I also taught for Michael Philips Casting and Acting school in Tampa and Orlando. Please refer to my resume when I send it.

I hope someone out there will point me to a School, College, University or other institution that can meet my needs. Please feel free to contact me via email at vas01 at hotmail dot com. Thank you for your time. I hope to hear from someone.

Sincerely,

William M. Vasquez

Hi. I'm a graduate of IT, and i think it is true that COBOL is no longer being taught nowadays. I remember, when I was in Uni, it stated in my class chart that I will be taking COBOL, but at the last minute they changed it to Business Processes.
Anyways, there are several universities that you could try to apply to. If you are planning to live particularly in Manila try this schools:

These are the top 4 universities in the Philippines.
De La Salle University : Manila : Home
Ateneo de Manila University
University of the Philippines Diliman
University of Santo Tomas - Home

You can also try this school, they specialized mainly in I.T.
Welcome to AMA Computer University

Good luck!

Yes, I have sent out over 150 emails to colleges, universities and even trade schools like AMA. I recieved about 3 replies. All said that the website type and pc programming was all they cared about. I proved to them on a given job almost 100 students could go to India to program. They didn't care. I will let God lead the way. We will see what happens. I think if I could come there, I could convince them. However, without a job waiting, it is very hard to spend the money up front. I will be there for a visit next Christmas, maybe then. Thank you for your thoughts. God Bless.

Well i guess you could teach in a drama or acting class?
Or you could try teaching english in high school... Our country is very kind to foreigners (sometimes more kind than their fellowmen! ), I'm sure you'll find somebody who will hire you..

Good luck and god bless!

Thank you for the thought. I just have to hit the right person. It is very hard to get a job from here. I'm in a catch22 can't go until I have a job there. Can't get a job there until I get there. I am a good Catholic and pray God will show the way. If the right position comes along to help me go there, raise my son there and work so I don't have to keep coming back; I would hop on a plane next week. I agree about the people there. I helped a few in So Leyte learn COBOL and they are now working in India. However, because it is not a job, I had to come back. The people there are kind and great to be around. I have never been so happy as I am living there. That is the best reason for me wanting to live there. I know I will be happy when I can retire there. However, that is a few years away. Again, thanks for you kind words.
