Default Life Insurance in NZ?

Hi,

We're getting closer to our move to CHCH from Canada and I am wondering how people are dealing with life insurance. We're finding it a bit of a challenge to find a Canadian company that will cover us while we are non-residents of Canada.

We will have a 2+ years work-to-residence visa and we're looking for some basic accidental death insurance for my wife and I should something ever happen to one of us. I'm curious to know if most people are arranging this from their home country before going to NZ, or if anyone can recommend a NZ company that handles expat situations.

Thanks!

Talk to a broker over here, one of the big insurance companies, or your bank - I can't see why you shouldn't have NZ life insurance while you're here.

Companies to approach - www.sovereign.co.nz, Southern Cross Healthcare Group, AMP - www.amp.co.nz

Or this one to compare insurances: Life Insurance - The Online Insurance Shop NZ

We both arranged ours through our employers, I say wait until you get there and see if you're able to do the same.
