Hi there and welcome to the forum. You need to look at all the information available on the internet and decide whether you want to apply for a work permit or permanent residency Etc ... check out Immigration New Zealand. As previously posted and have a browse through this forum for further information that could help you.

You will find a lot of information on that site and you can do applications online too.

Good luck

I think you're doing the right thing by trying to get your qualifications evaluated sooner rather than later. As a couple of our other posters have found, if they aren't evaluated then the number of points you can claim can be less than you thought.

Does anyone out there have experience of getting their qualifications evaluated? How did you go about it?

All qualifications have to get assessed by NZQA. There a a handful of qualification from different countries and institutions that have been pre-assessed, so don't need this and are exempt from assessment. Check out Get international qualifications recognised for immigration NZQA for detail of applications and the exemption list.

It can take approximately 12 weeks, and I recommend that you do this BEFORE lodging an application, as they often assess differently to what you assume, and therefore it affects your points.

Hope this helps?

Jen

Hi,
shahz. I am also from Pakistan and about to apply for IQA with NZQA. Can you please tell me what is your qualification and what level did NZQA evaluate you to?
Thanks

I have Bachelor of Computer Science by Allama Iqbal Open University and they assess it as comparable to the learning outcome of a qualification at Level 7 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.

So does this constitute "recognized basic qualification"? I am assuming this was a 4 year BS programme and that you have a total of 16 years of education. Please correct me if I am wrong.
