Default Visits/Permanent move. Advice sought pse.

Hello all,
We visited New Zealand for the first time earlier this year... and wow, what a place. The South Island is absolutely stunning! But then again I guess most of you know that already.
We are looking at a couple of options and would welcome opinions on them... firstly we are considering starting with an elongated visit, up to 6 months as I believe we can do that without visa problems and it would give us a better feel for the place. It would be renting a house, are they available for 6 month lets? and we would buy a car probably, and sell again on leaving. Feasible or not?
Secondly, and further down the line... we are aged 64 and 49 at the moment, so in terms of moving down permanently, do the ages have any negative affect, I believe as long as main applicant is under 59 it is ok, is that correct? Also, wouldn't really have to work but can't see any other way of getting in. Any info appreciated.

Regards,

Paul and Liz.

Hi Paul and Liz,

Have you checked out the NZ government website for immigration? If not it can be found at Living and joining family in New Zealand. That will give you an idea of visa type and ages.

Depending on where you are from have you thought about contacting a migration agent (the first consultation is usually free), or going to an expo? If you are near Leeds in the UK, I know that the Emigration group are doing a presentation on May 11th - Welcome to The Emigration Group Website - A complete migration service for New Zealand and Australia. They helped us to get into Australia - yes so I'm your future neighbour

Regards,
Karen

hi My understanding is that you both would have to be under 55 unless you were sponsored by an employer. It would be a good idea to perhaps come over for six months to experience life here as although its an English speaking country it certainly isnt the Uk. A different mindset. You would also then be able to make an informed decision. We toured Australia & NZ to get a feel of Australasia .It is difficult to settle and I still encounter problems but would not return to Uk too chilled out here.

Regards,

Paul and Liz.
