Default Football (Soccer)

Hi, I have just discovered this site and I need help, please.
We have three sons aged 14,12, and 9 and a daughter 4 and we are due to emigrate to Wellington by this June-August. My biggest concern is the 14yr old football mad son who is against this move. I need to place him where soccer is taken seriously and where there are plenty of opportunity for him to play/join a decent team. As I am (according to him) ruining his whole life and future career as a professional player etc., I need to find a right place or he will give me sheer hell for the next few months or more!!
I am due to start work at Wellington Hospital so the school/football team etc hopefully would be near my work place. I am prepared to commute as I do now - I drive 25 miles each way now.
Can anybody out there give me some advice as to which school is best or team to join? What area would it be? We haven't sorted temp accomodation or anything as yet. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Concerned mum,
I think your son will find that there's probably more opportunity to carve a career out of football over there at the moment then the realistic chance of doing it here. Australian football is catching on quick, theres more and more players now playing in england and Europe, and they keep qualifying for the world cup and give a reasonable account of themselves. Cricket and Rugby will always be the main sports in Australia, but football is a growing, so if your boy is any good and wants to work within football either as a player or indeed some sort of coaching role..... then OZ might be a fantastic opportunity for him.
So tell him to go and show them all how to play footie after all we gave it to them...... along with cricket........rugby........golf.... electricity.... sanitation....running water.....health service...... television..... beer.....straight sticks...... etc etc........not to mention......Australia itself!

Actually for Australia is Aussie Rules Football is THE BIGGEST sport over here by far. Cricket and Rugby are next, but soccer is hardly televised at all (on the normal channels).

This concerned Mum is moving to Wellington in NZ and not OZ. But what's a few thousand miles between friends

Good luck concerned Mum. I remember telling my Mum that she was ruining my life and that was moving from SE London to SE London ( a few miles down the road ) and I got over it.

Regards,
Karen
