Question GCSEs and school

We are in the process of accepting a job in NZ and while very excited have one or two logistical problems to overcome.
Our daughter is half way through her GCSEs and if this come off we will be looking at making the move around May this year. Obviously this will be a huger disruption to her and we want it to be as smooth a transition as possible.
Can anyone help in advising: whether the study is comparable, what are the major issues/what kind of challenges will she face? any experiences anyone has to offer etc.

Thank you

Duncan

Hi Duncan,

Although we moved to a different part of the world, we moved our daughter half-way through her GCSE's. Although she has had a hard year, she has studied in Spanish (landed in Argentina with no Spanish) and has survived her first year. Children are very adaptable and I am sure your daughter will enjoy school. Any difficulties she will have at school, will be overcome by the fact that she will find a freedom that doesn't exist in the UK and having wonderful weather and beaches.

My youngest son goes to an International school and they do International GCSE's which are equivalent to the old style O'levels with no course work. What I found here is that the standard of school work is very high and they have reached GCSE levels in many subjects by the age of 12.

Good luck

Regards

Michelle
