Default Final EOI question

Could anybody help clarify what is required in this question? I don't know if I'm just having a stupid moment or if my brain is actually now definitely fried but it might make more sense to somebody out there....

E4: Please indicate why your job is skilled. Give a detailed reason to support your claim for your points. We recommend that you first check our definition of skilled employment.
You should explain what is in your job description and explain how this is consistant with your occupational tasks for your occupation in ANZSCO. Also explain how your recognised qualification and/or work experience is relevant to your job. If you are claiming that your employment is skilled because it will enhance the quality of NZ's accomplishments and participation in that occupational field, explain
1. how your employment will achieve this: and
2. what evidence you can provide to show that you have an international reputation and record of excellence in your occupational field.

Now I've read all the relevant links and am still confused.
My husband is in Refrigeration and Aircons (although mainly industrial refrig) and has run his own business in South Africa but works for a major corporation here in the UK.
Please could somebody help?

No probs - we all have days like that (Especially after filling in forms )

I think the problem is that the question should be split into two parts:

Part 1: Please indicate why your job is skilled.

I suggest you describe how your husbands
  1. Work experience for the large UK company
  2. Work experience in his SA business
  3. how the Qualifications he has relate to these jobs
are relevant to Refrigeration

Part 2: If you are claiming that your employment is skilled because it will enhance the quality of NZ's accomplishments and participation in that occupational field, explain
1. how your employment will achieve this: and
2. what evidence you can provide to show that you have an international reputation and record of excellence in your occupational field.

I don't think you need to answer this particularly (unless you do think it will enhance NZ's reputation in Refrigeration!) - I think just answering the first part should be enough.

Hope that helps!

I had same questions on what to be filled in G1-Recognised work experience-

I had wrote in brief about my skills and work exp. gained from IT develpment and programming ,which is related to my qualifications, for each company I had worked for.

Need I write, detailed tool names that I used for IT /Software applications and programming . would this be sufficient? Any Suggestions ?

I had already submitted application, but payment pending. However, I have following important query-

In the partner`s section, I realized that I marked nothing in the Partner`s Other Names TextBox (It mentions - Including but not limited to : surname before marraige, previous name before marraige etc).

I missed to fill Partner`s Surname before Marriage (but there is No change in her First Name) .

Would this effect on points claimed. I have menitioned spouse surname that is after marraige, but birth certificate, university degree metnions Surname before marraige .
Should I edit the submitted EOI and fill the same and re-submit ? would it effect the EOI and application for claiming points.
(Note- When I edited the submitted EOI, it states a warning-
`You have chosen to edit your submitted Expression of Interest. Before you do this, you need to understand that any changes you make could affect the number of points you are awarded and how your Expression of Interest is processed.`

What do you mean by this? would this really effect the EOI process if I edit to fill my partner`s Other name? Or should I submit the EOI as it is, without editing to fill my partner`s other name.

Please suggest .Iam in confusion , whether to submit as it is or re-submit or withdraw and create a new one, if re-submit sense careless.

Thanks

Pkrish - I don't think adding details such as names wil change your points at all.

I think they're pointing out that some changes that can be made might affect the points that are calculated, but the calculations used to calculate number of points between the original EOI and the new one will remain the same.

Hi topcat83,

Thanks alot for releaving my worries and confusion about re-submitting.

Learning from selection of EOI to ITA, even if EOI gets selected from pool by points, they re-check for qualification and relevant work experience for bonus points. therefore,
I had some questions on what to be filled in G1-Recognised work experience:-

I have 10+ years of experience in IT after passing my degree. I have done Bachelor
of Engineering in Computers (also called computer Science in other universities) and my unviersity's name is listed in the NZ List of recognised qualifications .
Also I have done a Diploma in engineering before University degree.

In the work experience section: There is a text box to write work experience (why you
believe your work experience is recognised). Here I have typed in brief as for each organisation I worked for:

- Gained work experience in IT Applications, Software Engineering development and
programming, which is related to my recognised qualification.
Would this brief about my work be sufficient? Any Suggestions ?
Iam confused here...
My query is:-
Do I need to write detailed tool/language names like
C/C++/C#/.Net,ASP.Net,VB,Java Script, MS SQL,UNIX etc. that I used for development of IT /Software applications and programming.

Should I write these details if it makes added benefits to the selection of EOI or its not required as already Software Engineer is mentioned above?

Secondly, I have Selected my occupation type as Software Engineer (My designations in most companies is Software Enginner, but in some earlier organisations were Programmer Analyst, Software Developer, as these didnt had Software Engineer as desgnations in their payroll system, However, though these designations have diffrent names, they sound for same work). I hope this occupation code should be accepted. Is this would be OK?

Lastly, I have total of 10+ years of IT experience after passing degree from sept 1999
onwards and mentioned all the name of organisation I worked for.
In addition, I have also mentioned about my Part-Time work experience as an IT Engineer for
Computer maintenance in a non-IT company while studying in university, though it will not be
considered as recognised work experience.
My Query is:-
Should I keep the 8 months Part-Time work experience (worked during learning in university), if it does not matter as such or should I remove it ?

Thanks

Hi Pkrish

Please bear in mind these are just my opinions and make your own judgements accordingly.

As it so happens I had a similar problem, as I'd been in IT over 20 years so you can imagine the various levels of job I'd been through!

It sounds like it.

I'd cut'n'paste just what you've typed above somewhere into the paragraph - it doesn't add much lengthways and covers some of your core skills.

I never could understand the difference between a software engineer and a developer - so I wouldn't worry. Software Engineer sounds great.

I guess that usually points for work experience goes in 2 year chunks. So the 8 months part time probably wouldn't make any difference to the number of points. In which case I'd consider leaving them off (it may complicate matters, which you don't want)

Hi topcat83,
Thanks for your reply. You have relaxed my worries.

Thanks for your step by step answers
Good to hear as you are also in the same field and more experienced.

I have added the core skills descriptions that I mentioned in above for each company.

I have a Query - I have 10+ years experience in IT from Sept 1999 till date. I have shifted 5 company in this period.
Its now almost 10yrs n 2 mnths after passing university degree without any working gaps in betwen.
Mostly, I have shifted/Joined from one organization to another after 1 or 2 weeks period (usually within the same month) and only in one case I had joined after a month.
I hope this 1 or 2 weeks should not be counted. I hope it shold be consider as 10years experience as a whole. Any Idea?
(Actually thats why, I had put my query in the earlier blog about - the part-time experience period in case if fall sort of time period for 10 years point.).

Yes, I know, I too wont like to make things complicated. Hoping, removing part-time work exp would also work fine.

thanks

If it' s just 1 or 2 weeks between jobs, I shouldn't think that will affect things. Let's face it - that's how long you'd take off for a holiday!

Hi topcat83,

Thanks very much for your excellent suggestions/advices. I had put them in and Yes my EOI is selected from the pool and successful. , waiting for the hard copy letter from them.

I have following questions about medical ad PCC: Will these be required now before applying application for next process i.e ITA if Iam not wrong.
1) For getting PCC where should I apply for: Since Iam in another country now, but my stay here till date is still less than a year now (8 months), so do I need to get a PCC Only from country of Residence or also from present country?
2) About medical checkup test report: Can I take a test anywhere (if I am not able to go to home country immediately, can I take the test in present country). I hope this will be same everywhere.

Cheers
