Thumbs up Where to Go

I need your help as I have just applied for a work visa to go to New Zealand and I am looking to move over their long term but want to see if I like it first.

I have researched the internet and read the books, but still wondering where the best place to go. I would like help with where is good for work (youth work) and a social life (pubs, sports)

I still havn't decided on where to go, stuck between Christchurch and Wellington. Don't fancy Auckland as a few people have said that it is not the best.

So was hoping for your help as anybody been to either of the places, and can you help me with what is good or bad about either.

I am aiming to go in a few months so if you can help me then that would be great.

Hi, if I were you I would decide once I was here. There are so many fantastic places to live, but all very different. Could you take a few weeks to tour the island and get a feel for it? I agree Auckland is not our choice either. Good Luck

Hi Geordie
Keep in mind that touring a place is not the same as living there. You might feel enchanted by the scenery which puts you in a euphoric state of mind. In such a state one tends to overlook realities which could be the key to your happiness later on. Looking at city layouts, shopping facilities, schools, universities, transport, housing, social factors, etc would be my priority.

Auckland is the number one destination for immigrants when it comes to job opportunities, but it is very expensive as far as accommodation goes. Social life for young people is usually more developed in larger cities.

Could i venture to ask why you personally did not use your own proffered advice BEFORE you moved ? Me thinks you may not be in the predicament you find yourself re:schools had you done so and not quite as vindictive toward those offering help/advice freely and in an encouraging manner , after the fact , due to your own lack of personal insight .Non illigitamento carburundem . Did I say I toured before I moved? Can you read? Are you literate? Or are you psychic? Are you God that will determine whose advice is useful and what I should accept gratefully and then shut up? I think you're irked because I'm highlighting an issue you or some of your comrades don't want highlighted... Are you the watchdog around here? Self appointed? Too much time on your hands? I'll say it again. There's discrimination based on nationality in the schools. Want me to say it again?

Please help me someone! I'm so scared of Oddball! He calls the shots around here. And now I've irked him. Oooh I'm so scared. I won't sleep tonight. Do as Oddball says, not as he does.
