Also Real Estate, Houses for Sale, Rentals, Commercial and Businesses for sale at Realestate.co.nz - Realestate.co.nz

Be careful though - make sure the place you choose is where you'll like. There are an awful lot of place where you'll get a 4 bed place for what seems like a bargain price - but you'll suffer a huge culture shock and will probably find getting work difficult.

Cheapest areas are in rural areas, so it depends on your work requirements.
Cheapest homes are around $60-70K. They are not necessarily in bad areas either. Its a little remote if in the Gove area of Southland, but Wanganui, North Island is a 40,000 population town with all services, and friendly people. Well located for access to cities.
A 4br house I've seen here for around $90K. The number of houses here for sale keeps growing, no doubt because of recession, the prospect of higher interest rates, but mort importantly, the NZ is considering taxing investment properties. NZ offers very generous tax terms on property. See {sorry Shouganai, the link is to a commercial website, which isn't allowed. Hence the edit. Topcat83}
