Default International moving services

Hello, just wondered if any of you lucky people that are already in New Zealand could recommend an international furniture etc. moving company in the UK please?

My partner and I have been offered jobs on Stewart Island - yes the little dot at the bottom of the South Island - and the Visa applications are in the hands of NZ Immigration here in London. If we get the OK, we will have to pack up everything in less than a month to start our new jobs, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I spoke to Dell about my PC and they said I could just change the UK plug to an NZ plug and voltages etc would be alright ... great if this is the case, but anyone had any experience of fireworks?!

Jules

Gidday from New Zealand!
We sorted it all out ourselves - packed our own container and arranged shipping.
The computer was fine - just changed the plug. We sold the tv beforehand as we were told that wouldn't work. All other electrical equipment has been fine - just a tip, bring along a few UK multi boards as we still (after almost 8 years) have UK plugs on things so have just changed the plugs on the multi boards giving us plenty of UK sockets! We found it very strange that the NZ plugs don't have fuses and the plugs / sockets fit like they do in a dodgy spanish hotel!
We didn't bring our hoover and garden equipment (especially things like lawnmowers) because MAF are very strict on anything that might bring pests into the country and everything has to be spotless or it will have to be fumigated at port (at your expense). We also left things like wicker furniture for the same reason. When we packed our stuff we made a very detailed list of which box it was in and the material it was made from and if it had received any special cleaning.
Feel free to ask me any questions. - Good luck!

Wow, thank you Karen, that's really helpful. Amazingly, I've had a call from NZ Immigration this morning and they confirmed our Work Visa applications have been successful! Must be record time, less than five days to process! Am shocked, stunned and very excited! Thanks again - Jules

Thanks Gayle, we actually chose Anglo Pacific International who were brilliant at packing things up and our belongings are due to arrive any day now. We arrived here on Stewart Island in November and are hoping that things work out.
