I couldn't believe my eyes when driving back up the airport road at Timi, the advertising boards in Chinese and Russian!!

Cyprus is trying so hard to be cosmopolitan, then on the other hand, it is still in the dark ages when it comes to other things like animal cruelty, health and safety and hospital administration.

My hospital records are still lost, their department run by youths who think it's a school playground, throwing pens at each other., oh to be their office supervisor !!

Now my 'new' records are at home with me.

Yes the developers are now courting the Chinese as the Russians are no longer buying in the numbers they were and of course British buyers have not been coming in numbers for some time. One developer we know has actually put his prices back up because of the Chinese. How stupid is that?

One developer registered 80 contracts in the lands office, all villas over 300k apparently to Chinese!! Or that is the "word" around town :-) And they demand a 10% commission rate! Quite a few have actually gone to China to work out agreements and get the buyers over. It is only a matter of time before they realize they were over charged and either look at resales or quit buying in Cyprus altogether!

This is what has happened to the Russian buyers. They were coming over in their droves buying direct from the developers who were charging well over the odds. The Russians found out they were being fleeced and word spread so now they are mostly looking for resales and striking very very hard bargains or just walking away.
The developers are their own worst enemiesas they can't seem to get it into their heads that making a quick kill like that in the end kills the cash cow and then they have all these properties they built first for the Brits, then the Russians and now the chinese and they can't sell them.
