Default Proposed Mexico itinerary

I'm considering a trip to Mexico to look at possible retirement locations. So far my list includes:

San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuanato
Chapala and Ajiic
Patzcuaro
Guadalajara
The west coast, around Puerto Vallarta, as well as further north

Any more suggestions?

I'm going to add Cozumel and Chetumal, on the Yucatan Peninsula. Which means I'll probably fly into Cancun, and spend a week or so on Isla Mujeres, so I might as well add that, too. And I've always wanted to go see all the Olmec heads. It's starting to look like six months in Mexico.

Being the selfish type of person may I please add Cozumel Island to the sites you'd enjoy seeing and also feel free to contact me ahead of time and we'll put something together for a tour of our 30 mile long Island.Every tour here is different and I wouldn't mind picking you up at our ferry that you'll more than likely be arriving on from Cancun-if leaving from there. The other sites you've written down all look good,it's also great to be able to do some homework early.Be hearing your up-dates.July1@czmx.com

When are you going to Mexico to look at these places? It looks like you have a nice list there. You'll be busy.

Well there's a huge difference between those areas ... and the highlands compared to the coast. I suggest you make trips both winter and summer to see the differences for yourself. Since you are including Vallarta and the coast, I'd suggest you come down thru Colima and head north along the coast. Hate to have you miss some of the nice little places like Melaque/Barra, La Manzanilla and maybe even Colima of Manzanillo.
