Given the number of Canadians in the Chapala area, wouldnt it be in the best interests (financially) of a hospital in the region to offer services at the provincial payment level. By that, I mean the hospital would bill the patient using provincial codes that would reflect the costs to the provincial system. The patient would pay the costs upfront and would bill the provincial plan having the proper codes etc. for whatever procedures were utilized. Not sure if I am being really clear but wouldnt a system such as this allow both financial benefits to both Canadian patient and the Mexican hospital/doctors etc.

At Lake Chapala, we have clinics and emergency services but no full service hospitals. For that, you must go, or be transported, to Guadalajara, where there are world class private hospitals, hospitals for the indigent and the IMSS and ISSTE membership systems covering a metropolitan area population of over six million, plus being the health center for all of Jalisco and some of neighboring states. As such, 'marketing' to Canadians or Americans isn't a major concern. That said, many of the better private hospitals will make arrangements with your "international insurance". Generally, you have to pay the bill when you are discharged and apply for reimbursement yourself.
