Default SSL (Spanish as a Second Language) classes

Greetings,

I moved to Mexico City four months ago from Northern California. I'm interested in finding a children's Spanish class for my 10 year old son. Any ideas?

Thanks,
K.

There are many language schools in Mexico City; a Google search will return a number of language school web sites. I'm not pitching Google, but Google is my preferred web search engine; I assume that's why Googel stock is around US$800 per share; they are the best of the breed!

If you were going to enroll your son in a Mexican school, it might be rough at first, but he should learn pretty quickly. But since you want to home school, you have to consider what kind of training you want him to get. Are you interested in his learning to speak and communicate only, or do you want him to also have the sort of academic background that a Mexican would receive, with literature included?

Also, the few people I know in the US who homeschool have their children attend classes for specialized subjects, such as Spanish. In some states, they can attend some classes at the public schools. Perhaps you can find a school he can attend part time.

If he is at all athletic, things like team sports, or even individual sports, might make it easier for him to practice and learn.

This is something I haven't thought of yet. How do I find the public schools in my area?

He was at the Y in Coyoacan, but things didn't work out (long, socio-political story for another post); I'm currently trying to get him onto a soccer team in Benito Juarez, but things look like they're going the same route, so...

Your idea about seeing if he can go to public school part time sounds perfect, though. We're here for him to socialize with the Mexican community and learn Spanish.

Thanks,
K.
