Default Dress code for a concert?

I've been invited to my first concert in Mexico at the Nezahualcoyotl Hall (I didn't spell that on my own) & asked some Mexican friends about the dress code. Some said to dress up but others said not to. Who is right?

Welcome to the forum, jboon. When in doubt, shoot for something in the middle.

Thanks. I think I'll do that. I've noticed on the concerts on TV that it's quite casual which would be too casual back home. I don't mind either way

I've seen video clips of numerous Latin and Mexican concerts and the dress code appears to be whatever is the most comfortable and appropriate for the type of concert venue and music performed!

Nezahualcoyotl Hall
From the sounds of it that place is a 'concert hall' and may have jazz or opera but I doubt any rock concerts

Good point. If you are going to hear 'serious' music, dress will be much more formal.

As it turned out, it was mostly semi-formal which is what I went with. Some of the older were elegantly dressed yet some of the younger were in jeans. Yes, it was a classical music concert (Jordi Savall) which was lovely. I hope to visit the N Hall again which is a fine concert hall.

It's always best to go with your first instincts! As the concert turned out as you expected, you were pointed in the right direction!

I went to see Cafe Tacuba in Hermosillo last week and it was jeans and black shirts. There was even a mosh pit. It was at the Expoforum.

A mosh pit at the Expoforum! Now that's what I call a concert! I have no idea who Hermosillo is, but jeans and black shirts work for me!
