With all due respect, may I suggest that you obtain a Visitor's Visa (available at most international travel agencies) and valid for 6 months, before taking the "big plunge" on a long distance relationship? I was burned (taken advantage of) by a Columbian senora who tried to coerce (talk me into) obtaining a K-1 Visa (fiancée) in the US so that she could get to Miami, Florida to marry a man who was a non-resident alien! Please be careful in this matter!

A tourist visa (FMT) is available from the Mexican government and CAN/MAY be valid for 6 months. Not sure what you mean by 'international travel agencies'

An FMT visa (Visitors/Travel) is normally valid for a period of 6 months from date of issue. There may be extenuating circumstances that limit the validity of an FMT visa to less than 6 months. The FMT visa is available directly from Mexican immigration service, any Mexican consulate/embassy location or from "international" travel agencies that handle Mexican travel business. Some travel agencies are "domestic" travel only and/or may not handle travel business to Mexico; therefore, they would not have FMT visa applications. Rosi should check with her local travel agencies in the matter of the availability of the FMT visa.

I am happy to read that you are in a stable relationship. I do not believe that there are any financial requirements for obtaining an FMT visa, other than the application fee. Perhaps some of the other forum members can clarify the visa financial requirements?

Are you referriing to living expenses or a daily fee paid to immigration? I've never heard of daily fees except in Bhutan and for overstays in some countries.

Well $50 a day equals nearly what is required to retire in Mexico ... but you don't sound retirement age. A tourist visa has no income requirements.

You can check what other type of visa is available while here on your Tourist Visa

Depending upon your location in SA, I suggest that you contact the Mexican embassy or consulate by telephone or email. Should you be close enough in location and distance, I would suggest that you inquire in person; during a personal visit you can get all your inquiries answered AND procure any required forms.
