Default StarChoice HD settings

Finally found a cooler day to do an alignment on my Starchoice E75 Dual LNB Dish.

I have the DSR505 HD Receiver.

All the HD channels have a signal level in the mid to high 70s on Anik F2.

The regular non HD channels from Anik F1 come in with signal in the 40s+ range. A couple of peculiar ones such as City Toronto Ch 344 come in at 35 but the picture has no breakup. I might be able to work these a little higher but why?

If you are new to the game the first thing to do is make sure the dish mount is plumb. Very important.

My settings now on my E75 dish for a location north of Manzanillo are
Skew 102, Elevation all the way up about 75 degrees, Azimuth 192 degrees.

The HD channel pictures are spectacular. Bring on the Brier and Hearts!

Best regards,
Ronycoca

ps Thank goodness for the local Mexican Channels to help with my Spanish

Welcome to the expat forum!

Don't the dishes have a locking-in beep that you can use if you have someone to watch the TV while you make adjustments? Even the very first dishes did that, I think.

Oh I wish it were that easy. After plumbing the dish, setting the azimuth, elevation, skew, sure you can listen for for a beep but you will still be way out in left field. If the dish mount is not plumb, you will probably never get all that you are paying for, that was my initial problem.

I now have all the HD Starchoice channels with signals low to high 70s and all regular channels. The Grey Cup reception was wonderful, bring on the Olympics.

I worked for DirecTV when the first six months or so in the US, and I'm sure there was a beep. I guess I assumed they all worked that way.
