In my search on the Internet for expat and Mexican cultural information, I noted numerous web sites that addressed the social issues of foreigners living in Mexico. I dislike using the term "foreigner", but I couldn't think of a better term! I would do a Google search, or whatever search engine you prefer, for social gatherings in the Mexico City area,

Welcome to the expat forum, Larry. Take a look at the advice in the thread called 'homesick in Mexico City'. The same things might apply to you and your partner.

Well if your "partner" is a guy then you may want to hang out in the Zona Rosa, you'll probably encounter many friends there.

aside from the fact that i don't want to be stereotyped, i do not even like going to the Zona Rosa to eat. I am extremely private and am not looking for gay friends. I am looking for people that have regular interests like myself such as going to the movies, watching soccer, hanging out at starbucks or just hanging and having dinner. I probably am wrong for feeling this way but resent your suggestion.

Sorry but besides real artsy or liberal types, I don't see many or any straight guys hanging out with gay guys unless they are in the closet and the straight guys just don't know. Maybe in your neck of the woods it is different.

Gentlemen, kindly check your egos at logon! This is a forum, that is a free exchange of information; aptly named for the the Roman forums where Senators and citizens debated the events of the day. The are no Mark Anthony's and Julius Ceaser's here; OK?

I will say that Intercasa's remarks were, to say the least, 'old school' and not directly related to the original question.
