Default Poverty in Mexico

Is poverty a big problem in Mexico? I often hear about Mexicans fleeing Mexico to get to the United States for a job. Is the Mexican economy so bad that it chases these people away?

In short - yes. Lot more to it than that

Hi MyHat-

You're posting a lot of general questions; much of what you're asking can be found by some basic searches on the internet. Are you planning to travel to Mexico, or to move there?

Cheers-
Teadust

The interesting thing is that if you go to Guatemala, people there think of Mexico as the rich country to the north. Mexico has its own illegal immigration problem on Guatemala border. They, I think, have much stricter laws and instead of just sending people back, which is what we do, they put them in jail.

Myhat may be a shill for the forum, just trying to start conversations. Anyone so naive and as lazy as myhat will not make it in Mexico. He/she needs to learn to use the resources of the internet and not just the kindness of strangers on webboards to get the most basic questions answered. There is no status to be gained from asking the most questions.

I think part of the point of this forum is sharing experiences though. And for he most part, anyone who posts at all could be considered a "shill" of the forum. I post just to keep things going sometimes myself. I like my forums and don't wish to see them go dry.
