Yes, it's great isn't it? Had Jojo and Yolly (remember her??) over for coffee last week. Or, to be more precise, Jojo forced down some of my finest Lidl own brand 'cheap coke'!
I'm off for coffee with someone from another forum next week as well....

I thought I'd meet people through the kids' school, which I have, but it takes much longer to get to know people when it's just five minutes outside the school gates doesn't it! The forum means you feel like you are already friendly before you've actually met.

Your "cheap" cola was just fine Lynn and it was lovely to see your house (pssst, very posh!!LOL). It was nice to meet Yolly too, I hope I see her again. I'm also hoping to meet "natalieml" from the forum next week when she's over doing a rekkie, I've spoken to her on the phone and she sounds really nice. Her boys will be at my kids school, so she'll be in our area! In fact when she's here we should all have a night out ???????? - maybe even the "javea" lot could come over ???

I've met a few people from the forum, not least the "ubiquitous" Steve Hall!!!!

Its always interesting to put a human to a profile!

& mum of 5 with all 5

I might be meeting her next week, too!

I've met Stravinsky loads of times

'sat' never seems to manage to join us when we have a meet up though

I'd be doubting his existence if Stravinsky & Dolphin hadn't met him

Dolphin is having Spanish lessons in one of my groups - when he remembers to get up

The thing is Jo, we need to economise on the coke, so that we can afford the 'posh' pad!

If you want to meet new people, join an animal welfare group!
We had a quiet life when we first came here, something we were appreciating after a very hectic business and social life in the UK. We had friends over from the UK and the occasional dinner with people here but on the whole life was fairly uneventful.
Since joining our animal rescue group that has all changed. We've got to know dozens of interesting people and meet up regularly for lunch, coffee etc. The conversation doesn't revolve around dogs either. In the next couple of weeks we've got three visits to the theatre booked - some of the people we've become friendly with are involved in am-dram - as well as lunch and coffee dates. We've been to a couple of really good parties, including one which took place at a villa high in the hills above Estepona, with fabulous views to Morrocco and Gibraltar.
And most importantly we're spending time doing useful and much-needed work with like-minded people.
So....if you like animals and are concerned about their welfare, get involved with your local group....or if you prefer some other kind of charity, get stuck in there.
Everybody benefits.

Because of the internet I have managed to contact an old Shipmate that I last saw on the 16th of November 1962, 48 years ago!!!

He lives in San Miguel de Salinas, we have skyped and are hoping to arrange a meet when he next visits the Canary Islands,

48 years ago, I had hair, I was 19, single, with a thick wad of dosh, having just been paid after three month trip on an E.S.S.O oil tanker, happy days!!

Of course I hadn't forgotten you, Jo. I didn't mention you as I didn't want to lump you in with the 'new' people.
You are in a class of your own.
As of course is Our Little Azor, aka Azorito..
Did I tell you that he's named after a film star?
We saw a Czech film with a dog called Azor in it. Not as handsome as OLA but a lovely dog...hence the name.
The breeder of champion Ridgebacks we got OLA from didn't want to put that name on his passport - his 'real' name is Hiari Amani. We later discovered that Azor ids a name given to nondescript mongrels in the Czech Republic, hence the breeder's misgivings as RRs from that kennels are famous all over Central and Eastern Europe.
I suppose it's a bit like calling a dog 'Prince Ludwig von Sclusselberg-Lowenstein Rover' or something like that.
Good day at the refugio today btw....two dogs adopted.
